The Women's March is a national movement to unify and empower everyone who stands for human rights, civil liberties, and social justice for all. We gather in community to find healing and strength through tolerance, civility, and compassion. We welcome all people to join us as we unite locally and nationally. Join us on January 21st. We will rally with a march through the streets and end with speakers at the State Capitol. Please register for the event, tickets are free. On Saturday, January 21, 2017, millions will gather in Washington, D.C. and in hundreds of cities around the world. We stand together in solidarity with our partners and children for the protection of our rights, our safety, our health, and our families - recognizing that our vibrant and diverse communities are the strength of our country. We call on all defenders of human rights to join us. The Women’s March is the first step towards unifying our communities, grounded in new relationships, to create change from the grassroots level up. We will not rest until women have parity and equity at all levels of leadership in society. We work peacefully while recognizing there is no true peace without justice and equity for all. WHAT TIME WILL IT START, END, AND WHERE IS IT LOCATED? 2300 N Lincoln Blvd, Oklahoma State Capitol building. The March will begin around 10:30am, please arrive by 10:00am. The march should last approximately 30 minutes. Once we return to the south plaza courtyard we will begin the rally with numerous speakers. The entire even should end around 1:00-1:30, if no delays. WILL IT BE SAFE? CAN I BRING MY FAMILY? The Women’s March Oklahoma (WMO) has a team of experienced and professional organizers working to ensure that every safety protocol is followed. Safety is of the utmost importance to us. We are striving to make this a family friendly event and ask all attendees to respect everyone. Everyone is welcome to march. We will have police escort to ensure safety. Roundabout OKC has kindly volunteered to have a kid’s area for art and sign making to help entertain children during the March and rally. They will have volunteers to help. IS THIS MARCH INCLUSIVE? The fight for Dignity and Justice resides in all communities. The WMO is committed to ensuring the voices of ALL Oklahomans are heard. We are a nonpartisan group of women that welcome all supporters and protectors of human rights. WILL THE MARCH BE ACCESSIBLE FOR PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES? The WMO is committed to ensuring the event is as accessible as possible. There is handicap parking available and we are working on obtaining a qualified ASL interpreter. All permits have been approved. WHERE DO WE PARK? Tons of parking will be available, but we encourage as many people to carpool as possible. WHERE DO WE MEET? On the South Plaza on the southside of the State Capitol Building. WHAT IS THE ROUTE OF THE MARCH? The march will begin on the South Plaza courtyard, travel west on 21st, south on Lincoln Blvd, east on 18th, back north on Lincoln, west on 21st back to the south plaza courtyard. WHAT WILL THE WEATHER BE? Weather appears to be sunny and in the low 60s. Please check the weather before leaving for the March and dress appropriately. Wear comfortable shoes! WILL THERE BE SHIRTS OR OTHER MERCHANDISE FOR SALE AT THE EVENT? We will have buttons, t-shirts, and pre-made handheld signs available for purchase at the event. ARE THERE GUIDELINES FOR SIGNS? Please no profanity or other vulgar language on signs. We will have young adults and children present and would like everyone to be respectful and mindful of this. You can visit the rally bus website. There needs to be 25 people to sign up from a specific location for the rally bus to happen. Please consider only taking necessities i.e. cellphone, money, and other personal belongings. Feel free to bring water bottles or snacks. Backpacks will be easiest to carry your items.
