Response to Racism
As leaders of the Interfaith Alliance of Oklahoma, we have felt deeply disturbed by and grieve for the death of George Floyd, as well as the many others who lost their lives because of systemic racism in our society. His murder, made painfully public by video and many witnesses, has brought to us and to our nation a time of clarified reality of the systemic racism in which we all live.
Our very diverse membership wants to be part of the work of honestly facing the factors that have created the systems that keep white people in comfort and power while people of color have been systematically treated as of less value in our nation.
We desire justice for all people. At this time we especially support the work of organizations that bring helpful disturbance to the systems of racism so that good changes are made now, and in our nation, all may live in harmony.
We encourage our members and friends to learn more about systemic racism and what we can each do to help dismantle it. To that end, below is a link to a list of education resources we created.
We encourage all to learn more about what we can each do to be a part of the solution.
